This daily correspondence is turning into more of a meteorological report than a racing preview with a constant reference this week to the miserable conditions. We lost our NAP yesterday as Hamilton was washed out and we also saw York disappear off the radar altogether as both today and tomorrow's racing went and then Saturday's was similarly lost.
We did at least mention Portodora W2/1 and Option Money W2/5 to you on Wednesday so hopefully that kept things ticking over in the absence of our main business.
With an eye to the sky we try again today, starting at Chester we wish to mention #6 First Avenue (NAP) in the 6.10 and Rhadegunda in the 8.10. The former we've mentioned before and this Jarvis runner is expected to step up again today in taking on older opposition. The Michael Tabor owned 3yo ran well at Windsor last time out and can go one better tonight as the sole Jarvis-Robinson runner on the card.
As for Rhadegunda, it would have been our NAP today but for the skinny price - the Gosden horse is fully expected to go in today after three frustrating 2nd places (we were on last time).
Also this evening, at Fontwell, we have been told that #2 Shore Thing will give the returning Donaldson plenty to think about in the 6.25...
Elsewhere, it'll be interesting to see how Ethaara goes in the Great Leighs 2.40 (we had a word for this first time out) and there's also Mey Clouds in the 3.40 at Stratford which has been well touted.
Fingers crossed for the weather - a few meetings are already in jeopardy for tomorrow - and we'll be back with you on Friday morning.
