A welcome return to winning ways on Sataurday but with Ebor week now before us the important thing is to keep the momentum going and make up for the lost ground in the early part of the month. It's still very much all to play for in August and we're determined to make the second half of the month make up for the disappointments of the first.
We'll be off to the Knavesmire tomorrow so today it's regular Monday fare with four meetings to consider.
We start at Lingfield in the 4.00 with #2 War Native (NAP) of Jeremy Noseda. The yard has generally been a good one for us and this 2yo has been well-touted as one to watch in the future. Today's assignment over 7f is no penalty kick with the likes of Laahig in the field but this Group 1 entered juvenile is very much the one to be on. This runner is the yard's sole representative here today and, although not a big price, should oblige.
Nothing else on the Lingfield card this afternoon and on the other daytime meeting we'd just flag up Lazeyma of Michael Jarvis. This one needs to step up on a debut effort at Newmarket 9 days ago - and she should do. The Godolphin favourite doesn't look bombproof here but our one doubt is whether the 3yo can progress enough in one run to get her nose in front. Interesting though and do watch the betting.
Two short-pokes at Windsor tonight. Aleatricis is on the six-timer (we were on the first at 10/3 > 9/4) and French Art in the 7.30. The view is that with Ryan Moore up top the Elsworth runner might very well go in... at the 7th time of asking! But the price is simply ridiculous.
Finally, #1 Jennie Jerome is one to watch in the Yarmouth 7.20. The Cumani 3yo makes her handicap debut against a none too clever bunch. Slightly offputting is the record of the claimer up top (2-25) but it should go very close we're told.
That's the word for Monday, we'll be back tomorrow with our first look at the Ebor meeting up at York.
