The Winning Line Daily Bulletin: 16 August 08

Satwa Laird W1/1, Almiqdaad W2/1, Winter Bliss e/w 12/1 all returned a profit yesterday but our main information included two 2nd places and a poor run from Asateer. The running of our NAP bets defying all comprehension at present!

Quite a bit to pass on today but, as ever with Britain in Summertime, we've half an eye on the weather for this afternoon.

We'll begin at Ripon with #1 La Sarrazine in the 3.25. James Fanshawe's 3yo comes here with every chance having run well at Sandown last time out. On the same card, Michael Jarvis has two live chances with both #4 Zuzu (NAP) in the 2.50 and Inchwood (5.10) being touted this morning.

Plenty of news for the 2.40 at Newbury with Geordieland, Sixties Icon and Eastern Anthem all mentioned. The one we prefer is the Andrew Balding 3yo, #11 Donegal, who gets weight all-round, will like the ground and has solid each-way claims being in very good heart at present.

Paco Boy may prove the one in the 3.15 but the Richard Hannon-Ryan Moore combination is not the most productive in terms of profits (15%, -44.76) so we'll reserve our judgement for now.

The Newmarket 2.25 gives us #9 Winter Bloom as another each-way option. The Cecil runner is clearly no world beater but we're told she's shown a bit more at home than one the course thus far and can very much get into the shake-up in a pretty moderate race.

At Lingfield, Mark Johnston's Ceili Mor may well feature in the 6.00 on her handicap debut - not a great race.

We've nothing of great note to mention over the sticks today as Bangor-on-Dee has produced very little and Market Rasen has only brought mention of Nigel Twiston-Davies' Kirby's Vic in the 7.10 - but that looks a tough heat against the likes of Laoch Dubh, Star Of Germany etc. The chaser is in great nick though following a recent win at Southwell.

No bulletin on Sunday so we'll see you next on Monday for the start of Ebor week.
