Not the most productive of starts to this week. The defeat of Dispol Kylie at Musselburgh last night was an odd one. Well backed and with conditions to suit the horse found little when it really mattered - connections reported that perhaps this race came too soon after her latest win at Thirsk ... not what we were told!
Black Moma came with a chance at Nottingham but the tank was empty come the final furlong and we ended up a length out of the places.
We'll start today with Jeremy Noseda's #2 High Alert (NAP) in the Hamilton 6.20. We mentioned this one when it won first time out at Lingfield and as the yard's sole runner here, and the stable having a good record North of the border, we should expect another good run from the rated 2yo.
We see Astrodome in the 8.25 as well. A very nice winner for us last time out (W10/3) but this race is a bit trickier - although the Prescott 3yo is well respected.
Next to Luca Cumani's #7 Too Tall in the Sandown 6.35. This juvenile entered notebooks after a pleasing first run at Newmarket last month and the word is that he'll go one better tonight.
We're also told to expect some improvement from Sir Michael Stoute's runner, #5 Winners Chant, in the 8.10. She's shown precious little thus far but has each-way claims tonight.
Victoria Sponge might rise to the occasion - sorry! - with the defection of Enderby Spirit in the first at 5.35.
Over at Salibury and another old friend Manhattan Dream was due to run in the 3.35 but the Hills 3yo is now a NR. Shame, as we were told the horse is still on the upgrade however the ground isn't deemed suitable.
There's not a lot of quality in the Yarmouth 3.55 and Noseda (again!) has a chance with #3 Myanmar. The form of his Newbury win is open to debate but this bunch today are somewhat mixed in terms of ability and we're informed this one has come on for the run.
Nothing of great consequence to pass on for Beverley so that's the word for Wednesday. Back tomorrow with, we hope, a very nice each-way runner at a double-figure price ... we're on the case!
