A low-key start to the week on Monday, in more ways than one. We had Orange Pip (NAP) of Richard Hannon massively backed at Windsor last night 7/4 > 8/11 but the horse finished dead last of the 8 runners. Something definitely went awry with that one but we're yet to receive a proper answer.
And although Varadouro W6/5 in the afternoon, Jeremy Noseda's Giverny was similarly lacklustre, again at Windsor last night. We'll be doing a bit of investigation into that one as well, rest assured!
Bouncing back is the key and we aim to do that today with the start of Glorious Goodwood. We've got a couple of horses to mention there as well as messages for several runners up at Perth - however, both Worcester and Beverley have turned in no great information.
Let's start at the West Sussex track with #9 Infallible (NAP) in the 3.30. John Gosden's charge has been highly campaigned this season and despite creditable runs on her last three starts (all over a mile) hasn't managed to add to two earlier career wins, both over today's trip of 7f. That may be the key for this 3yo who gets weight from all her rivals and should put up another very game effort indeed we're told.
The rest of the card looks mighty competitive and hard to fathom. We've had one each-way mention for Willie Haggas' #13 Jargelle in the Molecomb at 4.05. This one will require the rain to stay away but the vibes are otherwise positive for a big run from the recent Super Sprint winner. Each-way would be the call at around 11/1.
As we say, nothing for either Worcester or Beverley, but we have to be mindful of the Nigel Twiston-Davies runners up at Perth. His strike rate up North is mighty impressive (26-74, 35%) and even better with PJ Brennan on board (11-22, 50%). Tonight NTD has three runners in Rory Boy (7.10), Apollo Creed (8.15) and Leamington Lad (9.15).
That's all for today. Back on Wednesday for more action from the Glorious meeting.
