Pontefract Racecourse is the longest continuous circuit in Europe at 2m and 125yds. It stages flat racing between the end of March and the end of October.
It is a left handed course with a home straight of just over 2 furlongs - the majority of the last 4 furlongs are uphill and so suits a strong staying type of horse.
Extensive improvements over the past few years have made Pontefract one of the best appointed courses of its kind in the Country - motorway links provide good communications with all other major training centres in the Country, with the result that the racing is both competitive and entertaining.
Pontefract Racecourse is only half a mile from Junction 32 of the M62. The M62 passes the northern side of the track and links with the A1, M1 and M18 within 10 miles of the Course.
